Lockport Girls Basketball Teams Advance To State Semifinals
Taft has advanced to the first round of the Class 2A tournament, and Kelvin Grove has advanced to the first round of the Class 3A tournament
LOCKPORT, IL — Two Lockport eighth grade girls basketball teams have advanced to the first round of the IESA state tournament. Lockport Taft has advanced to the first round of the Class 2A tournament, while Lockport Kelvin Grove has advanced to the first round of the Class 3A tournament.
According to the IESA website, Taft will face Springfield Blessed Sacrament at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at Havana High School. Taft is 20-6, while Springfield is 20-3.
The winner of the first round will face the winner of Winchester and Paris Crestwood in the semifinals.

Lockport Kelvin Grove will face Glasford Illini Bluffs at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Germantown Hills Middle School. Kelvin Grove is 22-5 while Glasford is 23-1.
The winner of that game will face the winner of Pleasant Pains and Roxana in the semifinals.

The state championship games for both Class 2A and Class 3A will be played Dec. 19.
The Lockport Oak Prairie seventh grade girls team and the Lockport Kelvin Grove seventh grade team also both made it to the state tournament for their respective classes. However, both teams lost in the first round.
