Lockport Holds Public Meeting About 9th Street, Lincoln To Summit

Proposed improvements of the project include adding a center two-way left turn lane, upgrading sidewalks, enclosing a ditch and more.

LOCKPORT, IL — The city of Lockport and consultant Christopher Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd., will hold a public information meeting for the East Ninth Street; Lincoln Street to Summit Drive - Phase I Engineering Study on Thursday, April 25 from 4-6 p.m. at city hall, the city said. The meeting will be an open house format and people can visit anytime between 4 and 6 p.m.

The city said attendees will have the opportunity to review exhibits, provide comments, and meet with city staff and engineering consultant representatives.

According to the city, proposed improvements of the project include adding a center two-way left turn lane from Lincoln Street to Summit Drive; upgrading to 8-foot wide shared-use path on southeast site of Ninth Street; reconstructing pavement; enclosing the ditch north of the Ninth and Seventh streets intersection; adding storm sewer inlets; and upgrading to curb and gutters.

This is just phase 1 of the project, and phase 2 typically lasts 18 to 24 months before the construction in phase 3.
