Lockport Increases Number Of Liquor Licenses For Restaurants

This increase is due to a new tenant in the former Diamond Restaurant space.

LOCKPORT, IL — The City of Lockport has approved an amendment to increase the cap on restaurant liquor licenses. At its meeting on Nov. 4, the council increased the cap of liquor licenses available from 21 to 22.

This increase is due to a new tenant in the former Diamond Restaurant space. Diamond Restaurant closed in 2019, but Papa Joe's Italian restaurant took the available liquor license that had been previously issued to Diamond's, council documents state. Now, a new tenant is proposing a Mexican-Asian fusion restaurant in Diamond's old location at 16529 W. 159th St.

To accommodate the new tenant, the cap for available restaurant liquor licenses was increased.
