Lockport Mom Gives Birth to First Baby of 2016 at Silver Cross Hospital

NEW LENOX, IL — Silver Cross Hospital welcomed the first baby of the new year on Jan. 1, 2016, at 4:35 a.m., born to Rebecca Kustra of Lockport.

Dr. John Bush, obstetrician/gynecologist, delivered the baby girl. Lily Grace weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces and measured 19.5 inches at birth. This is Kustra’s third child. Lily Grace has a 6-year-old brother and 4-year-old sister.

“I wasn’t due until Jan. 4, however I started to have contractions last night during a family party,” Rebecca Kustra said. “I tried to get some rest before coming to Silver Cross around 11:30 p.m. It’s exciting to have the first new year’s baby.”

In celebration, the Kustra family received a gift basket loaded with essentials for both mom and baby from Silver Cross Hospital’s Women and Infant Services Birthing Center staff as well as presents for Lily Grace from Childerguild— the hospital’s auxiliary who has donated more than $3 million to support women’s and children’s services at Silver Cross Hospital.
