Lockport Moves To Second Round Of 'Strongest Towns' Contest

Lockport will face off against Middleton, Wisconsin in the second round of the contest.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport has moved forward into the quarterfinals the Strong Towns "Strongest Towns" contest after defeating Bellingham, Washington. Lockport will face off against Middleton, Wisconsin in the second round of the contest.

According to the Strong Towns website, eight towns advanced to the next round of the contest based on votes. In this round, towns shared information about local businesses, local causes and popular events.

Voting will close at noon on Thursday.

Other towns in the contest include: Kenmore, Washington; Bentonville, Arkansas; Oxford, Mississippi; Yellow Springs, Ohio; Bismarck, North Dakota; and Northfield, Vermont.

Strong Towns is a nonprofit which "advocates for a model of development that allows our cities, towns and neighborhoods to grow financially strong and resilient."
