Lockport Plans Christmas In The Square

Guests can visit with Santa, see his workshop, watch the tree lighting ceremony and enjoy the sounds of Christmas.

LOCKPORT, IL — Head out and join in on some holiday fun in Lockport at the annual Christmas in the Square event on Saturday, Nov. 24. Guests can visit with Santa, see his workshop, watch the tree lighting ceremony and enjoy the sounds of Christmas.

According to the city, there will be carolers, crafts, cookie decorating and more. Those 18 and under can also participate in the Passport to Christmas in the Square Program by visiting local downtown businesses. First, get a map to bring to each participating downtown business so they can stamp it. Then, turn in your fully stamped map and receive a raffle ticket to be eligible for the grand prize. The city said the winner must be present and will be announced at the tree lighting ceremony.

Guests can also stop by the Gladys Fox Museum for the Festival of Trees where you can vote for your favorite tree. The tree lighting ceremony will finish the event off at 4:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Central Square.

The free event will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at Central Square, 222 E. Ninth St. The event is sponsored by the Lockport Township Park District, City of Lockport and Lockport Township Government.
