Lockport Senior Gathers Donations For TLC Animal Shelter

The Lockport teen, with the help of neighbors, was able to donate nearly $600 worth of cleaning supplies, toys, dog treats and cat treats.

LOCKPORT, IL — Lockport Township High School senior Helene Simmons recently dropped a car-load of donations off at TLC animal shelter in Homer Glen. Simmons, with the help of her mom Lynn, and some generous neighbors, was able to donate nearly $600 worth of cleaning supplies, toys, dog treats and cat treats to the shelter.

Helene, who wants to go to college to be a veterinarian, said she had the idea because she wanted to "make some people happy."

"I wanted to start something that would make me happy, and help some animals and people in the meantime," she said.
