LTHS Board Recognizes 14 Retiring Staff Members

Retiring staff members include bus drivers, custodians, teachers, secretaries, a paraprofessional and a guidance counselor.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Township High School District 205 Board of Education honored 14 retiring LTHS staff members at Monday's board meeting.

Staff members who have been with the district for "many years" receive a crystal clock, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Tony Cundari said during the meeting.

Among retiring staff members are two bus drivers; Eileen McGraw, who has worked for the district for 17 years; and Carol Israelson, who has worked for the district for 26 years.

"Bus drivers are definitely a critical member of our staff," Cundari said.

Two custodians are also retiring; Kathy Shepherd, who has worked for the district for 30 years, and Jim Pesavento, who has worked for the district for 24 years.

One paraprofessional, Bob McFedries, retired earlier this month after 15 years with the district.

Personnel Secretary Sue Rak also retired in October after 19 years in the district, Cundari said. Secretaries Betty Koleno and Dawn Bishop are also retiring; Koleno has worked for the district for 27 years and Bishop has worked at the district for 30 years.

Five teachers and a guidance counselor were also honored at Monday's meeting for their "hard work and dedication to the students and the rest of the staff," Cundari said.

Retiring teachers include: English teacher Matt Bedore, who has worked at LTHS for 33 and a half years; Special Education teacher David Bohac, who has worked at the district for 5 years; World Language/Spanish teacher Kathy Matejcak, who has worked at the district for 33 years; Special Education teacher JoAnn McCarroll, who has worked at the district for 28 years; Special Education teacher Claudia Mullen, who has worked at the district for 16 years; and school counselor Jeff Wood, who has worked at the district for 21 years.
