Natural Gas Leak Causes Road Closures In Lockport

State and Ninth streets are both closed due to the leak near downtown Lockport.

LOCKPORT, IL — A natural gas leak has caused several roads to be closed near downtown Lockport on Saturday, Nov. 17. According to the city, State and Ninth streets are both closed due to the leak.

The city said the gas leak is in the 800 block of South State, so State is closed between Seventh and 10th streets, and Ninth is closed between Madison Street and Canal Road. Drivers should use Madison Stret and Canal Road as the primary detour routes.

The leak is anticipated to be repaired by 7 p.m. Saturday. Roads will remain closed until the leak is contained.
