New Lenox Motorcyclist Killed in Homer Glen Crash
The 57-year-old man was thrown from his bike.

HOMER GLEN, Il — A 57-year-old motorcyclist from New Lenox was killed Friday, July 1 in a crash with a pickup truck in Homer Glen.
The 26-year-old driver of a Ford F-150 pickup was heading eastbound on Spring Meadows Drive near 179th Street about 6 p.m. Friday when he moved into the westbound lane to pass a slow-moving vehicle ahead of him, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The truck then struck an oncoming Harley Davidson motorcycle that was driving in the westbound lane of Spring Meadows Drive.

Motorcyclist William Johnson of the 100 block of Fir Street in New Lenox was ejected from the bike and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His death has been ruled an accident.
The driver of the pickup truck, Michael Messer of Matteson, was cited for improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, according to the reports. The driver of a third vehicle involved in the crash was not injured.
