Obituary: Donald Campbell

Donald A. Campbell, age 90, passed away on Dec. 12, 2020, at his home in Lemont. He was born to Arnold and Leona Campbell on Maybell and John Hinshaw’s farm house in Ocoya, Illinois on Dec. 28, 1929.

He was an employee of the Lemont Refinery (Pure, Globe, Union Oil, Unocal, and Citgo) for 35 years. He worked as a pipe fitter, Fireman at north plant Cat Reformer, operator at the Crude
Topping unit, refinery shift operator, and supervisor of the Alkylation unit.

He was married to his high school sweetheart Bonnie Kirk for 64 years. They had four boys, Michael, Bruce, Richard, and Scott. He was active in the Lemont United Methodist Church and was a scoutmaster of boy scout troop 149.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie who died at age 85; a sister, Kay; and a grandson, Jeremy Campbell. He is survived by his four sons; brother Arlen; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private family funeral service will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Estates.
