Maria Lee Lyons, age 54, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Edward Hospital in Naperville, surrounded by the love of her family. Maria was born in Chicago Heights, IL, on April 25, 1966, the daughter of Lawrence and Susan (nee Achord) Bennett. She grew up in Evergreen Park and was a 1984 graduate of Evergreen Park High School.

Maria was an involved mom; she was a former Girl Scout Troop #204 Leader and a Choir Mom with Plainfield South High School. Maria loved dancing to Chris Stapleton and Bon Jovi. Maria loved everything about the outdoors. She enjoyed hiking and traveling with her family to National Parks. She had a big heart and was always willing to be a mother figure to anyone who needed her.
She was, and always will be, a mother to many.
Maria is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Alan Lyons; two daughters, Emily Mae Lyons and Crystal Lyons; loving son-in-law to be, Joseph Anthony Garcia; her mother, Susan Louise Bennett; and her mother-in-law, Theresa Lyons.

She is preceded by her father, Lawrence Merril Bennett; grandparents, Bud and Marjorie Achord; her uncle, Sam Achord; and her father-in-law, William Lyons.

Visitation for Maria Lee Lyons will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. In accordance with the Illinois guidelines, face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
