Richard P. Mihalik

Richard Philip “Rick” Mihalik, of Shorewood since 2010, and formerly of Woodridge, passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice, with his loving family by his side.

Born December 15, 1945 in Valparaiso, Florida, he was the son of the late Stephen and Lillian (Friedman) Mihalik. He was a graduate of Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA, Class of 1963, and attended Kent State University for two years.

Born on Eglin Air Force base in Valparaiso, Florida, he was raised in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He married Janice Hoffman in 1970, and they relocated to Chippewa Lake, Ohio. Richard then took a job in Chicago, IL in 1979, and relocated to Woodridge, IL where they resided until Richard’s retirement in 2010. Rick worked as a sales executive throughout his career.

A loving husband, great dad and wonderful grandfather, Rick loved golfing, cooking, and playing cards.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Mihalik of Shorewood, IL: his devoted children, David (Elizabeth) Mihalik of Lockport, IL, Ryan (Lauren) Mihalik Westmont, IL, and Nancy (Joseph) LaMarca of Lakewood Ranch, Florida; a dear sister, Rita Racculia of Mechanicsburg, PA; his loving grandchildren, Dylan Mihalik of Lockport, IL, Adeline Mihalik of Lockport IL, Sydney Paukert of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Jason Mihalik Westmont, IL, and Nathan Mihalik of Westmont, IL; and a brother-in-law, Ronald (Sherry) Hoffman of Maryville, TN

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Mihalik will be celebrated Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive, Shorewood. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.
