When asked about the increase, Balich said the township is planning to get bids to do needed concrete and asphalt work.
HOMER GLEN, IL — Rent will increase for residents of Homer Township's Founders Crossing Senior Housing Community for the first time in at least 12 years, Township Supervisor Steve Balich told Patch.
Rent for residents of the complex, which is restricted to those age 55 and older, is currently $850 per month. The Chicago Tribune reported that the Township Board voted to increase rent to $900 per month starting Sept. 1, and to $950 a month starting March 1, 2022.
According to the township website, the complex has 30 rental units on 5 acres. Each unit is 950 square feet and has two bedrooms, one full bathroom and a single-car attached garage.

When asked about the increase, Balich said the township is planning to get bids to do needed concrete and asphalt work.
"This is just the start of necessary repair and maintenance that is necessary," he told Patch.

Balich said the senior housing is "not based on income, and is not subsidized by the state or federal government."
All the units at the complex are currently filled, according to the township website.
Balich said there is a huge waiting list for the complex, and the township board will be having future discussion of raising the age for new renters.
