WILL COUNTY, IL — Jewelry and other personal items were reported stolen after two ruse burglaries in the Mokena and Homer Glen this week, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office. In these incidents, police said an unknown man came to the victims' front doors and said he was an employee of ComEd.

This man then convinced the victims to allow him to enter their homes, and led them to the back of the home to distract them, police said. A second man then entered the home and stole jewelry and "other personal items," police said.

According to the sheriff's office, older adults are specifically targeted in ruse burglaries. The sheriff's office advised making sure your older adult parents, neighbors and friends are aware of this type of burglary.
