Stargazing Planned At Heritage Park In Homer Glen

Astronomers from local astronomy groups will be at the park with their large telescopes for a free viewing.

HOMER GLEN, IL — The Village of Homer Glen will host a stargazing event at Heritage Park on June 19. Astronomers from local astronomy groups will be at the park with their large telescopes for a free viewing. The viewing will begin when it gets dark.

Crosstown Exotics will also be at the community room of village hall at 7:30 p.m. with their assortment of creatures to show families.

According to the village website, there will be a waxing gibbous moon to view. Star clusters may be able to be seen around 10 p.m., with the first stars in view around 9:30 p.m.

Homer Glen is a Dark Sky Community, and first held a stargazing event in 2013. The Village received the award from the International Dark Sky Association due to its dedication to the preservation of the night sky.

Heritage Park is at 14240 W. 151st St.
