Two House Fires Reported In Lockport Area In Two Days

One fire was reported Tuesday in unincorporated Lockport Township, and the second fire happened Wednesday in Lockport.

LOCKPORT, IL — The Lockport Township Fire Protection District has responded to two fires in the Lockport area over the past few days. On Tuesday, a fire was reported in the 400 block of Nobes in unincoporated Lockport Township.

According to the district, firefighters arrived to see heavy smoke coming from the rear of the property, and a garage was fully involved in flames. The fire also threatened a neighboring garage and shed.

The district said the fire was extinguished and brought under control within 20-25 minutes. Multiple fire companies worked to bring the incident to a close, and neighboring departments assisted with coverage of the fire district during the incident.

All occupants were able to safely evacuate the home in the front of the property prior to the fire
department's arrival and no injuries were reported. The district said, the cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is being investigated by the Lockport Fire Investigators.

The second fire was reported on Wednesday in the 1600 block of Hamilton in Lockport. The fire district said crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from 2-story home. The fire had started in the basement, and was controlled within 10 minutes.

According to the district, the home took a while to ventilate due to heavy smoke conditions in the basement and construction. The residents were not going to be able to stay in the home due to smoke damage and utilities being disconnected.

All occupants of the building were able to safely evacuate prior to the fire department's arrival
and no injuries were reported. The district said the Red Cross was called in to assist the resident.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is being investigated by the Lockport Fire
Investigators.
