Woman, Baby Found Dead In Lockport Home: Police

LOCKPORT, IL —A woman and baby were found dead Friday morning in a Lockport home, police said. The identities of the woman and 14-month-old girl have not been released pending notification of family.

Police said officers responded to a call reporting a person found dead in the 900 block of South Hamilton Street around 8:17 a.m. Friday. Officers who arrived found a 32-year-old woman who was dead with her wrists cut. The 14-month-old girl was also found dead but had no apparent signs of trauma to her body, according to police.

The person who called police was a relative of the 32-year-old woman, authorities said.

The causes of death for the woman and child will be determined following an autopsy by the Will County Coroner's Office, police said.

A death investigation is ongoing, and Lockport police said they do not feel there is a threat to the community.
