Dear Hyde Park Patch readers,

Here is my open letter to Mayor Lightfoot. I know thousands of Chicagoans are upset about the firework and M-80 explosions that are happening nightly the past week or so.

Please email Mayor Lightfoot also, with your opinions. -Sid / Patch Mayor for the Hyde Park Patch

Dear Mayor Lightfoot,

I know you are aware that in all of the five to ten largest cities in America, every night has been filled the past several weeks with constant, very noisy, and disturbing explosions of fireworks.

Perhaps you need to work with the State of Indiana, to have them temporarily restrict the sale of these fireworks to non-Indiana residents.

Although this would not prevent fireworks already in Chicago from being exploded every night ... it would at least send the signal to the public that you as Mayor, and the City, are making some effort to stop this illegal exploding of these fireworks and bombs.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sid Colton, Retired
