The Atlanta Mayor was very to-the-point yesterday: There is no excuse or movement that any sense of humanity supports when its center is the random killing of children in the neighborhoods of Chicago, Atlanta, New York, or anywhere.

It must stop.

And a lingering sense of disgust must not prevent Mayor Lori Lightfoot from picking up the phone; calling President Trump; and coming up with some National Guard or other-appropriate people to bring to a halt these gang or random shootings in the poor and minority neighborhoods of Chicago. The Mayor must also ask Governor Pritzker for whatever manpower he has available to send 24/7 into these particular neighborhoods of Chicago.

If police were allowed a few weeks ago to enter and stop theft of property throughout the country after a few days ... there is even less reason to delay sending in completely-sufficient resources ... whatever is appropriate, whether National Guard or even US Military ... to be on these blocks every day and night until whenever it is that all-agree they are not needed.

Mayor Lightfoot: Please pick up the phone now, and deal with the present and future and not the near-past or personality-or-other disagreements with President Trump.
