Opinion: More Cameras Need To Be Put into Hyde Park by the City

My Open Letter to Alderman Leslie Hairston

The following is an open letter to the assistant to Alderman Leslie Hairston from me. I recommend that more security cameras be placed at appropriate places in the residential parts of Hyde Park where a large group of crimes has recently occurred:

Dear Mr Okoe,

It has been suggested by current experts, that security cameras are a good start to help reduce crime. [...]

Can you start a program to get many many security cameras installed throughout Hyde Park. They are mostly needed on the residential streets where the recent group of robberies has been committed. I presume some can go onto buildings, and some can go onto street light poles. I assume for houses, you can offer encouragement and perhaps the cameras themselves to homeowners.

Finally, can you work with the Chicago Police Department to make sure that the CPD can see in their headquarters, the view from as many of these cameras as is feasible.

I look forward to the first cameras going up soon!

Sincerely,

Sid Colton
