LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A Victorian-style home at 210 Lake Street in Libertyville is on track to become the first residential home in town to receive local landmark status.

The home had sat empty for when Martina Cook of Mundelein, the niece of the prior owner of the home, Robert Lueck, bought it from Lueck's estate, according to the Daily Herald. Cook and her husband breathed new life into Victorian Free Classic style home, which was originally built in 1874.

But they did add new plumbing and electricity, an addition with a bedroom and a three-car garage. Other improvements included the refurnishing of original hardware, the rebuilding of the front door to get as close to the home's original front door and reclaimed fixtures and exterior siding.

The home at 210 Lake Street has been reviewed and approved as a local landmark and now is headed to the village board for official approval.
