Teen Charged In Police Chase, Hit-And-Run: Police
A Waukegan teen did not pull over during a traffic stop and was involved in a hit-and-run crash a short time later, authorities said.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Authorities in Libertyville tracked down a Waukegan teen who led an officer on a chase, eventually getting away after being involved in a crash, police said.
Police said they first observed a vehicle speeding while headed south on North Butterfield Road near Ridgewood Lane at about 4:10 p.m. on June 18. An officer turned on his emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the car kept going, fleeing from the officer, according to the police report.
The officer stopped pursuing the vehicle, and a short time later, received a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle he'd just attempted to pull over. The crash occurred in the general area where he'd tried to make the traffic stop, authorities said.
