2 Adults 'Seriously Hurt' After Car Hits Them Near Lake Villa
According to the Lake County Sheriff's office, the woman sustained broken bones, and the man suffered a head injury and internal injuries.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Two people were seriously hurt when they were hit by a car Monday while crossing a road in unincorporated Lake Villa. According to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's office, deputies were called to the area of West Engle Drive and Borth Wildwood Drive at 7:40 p.m. for a car vs. pedestrian crash with injuries. Sheriff's deputies arrived and found a 45-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both from unincorporated Lake Villa, with significant injuries, according to the news release.
The sheriff's office said the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's office Technical Crash Investigations Unit, however, early investigation shows a 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 being driven by a 19-year-old male from Round Lake Park was headed eastbound on Engle Drive, in the area of Wildwood Drive. As the car headed eastbound, the man and woman ran from the north side of the roadway, crossing in a southern direction directly in front of the car, according to the news release. The front of the car hit both of them, the sheriff's office added.
The woman sustained broken bones, and the man sustained a head injury and other internal injuries, according to the sheriff's office. Both were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, according to the news release.
