Adler Center Hosts Perform-A-Thon, 10 Hours of Performances
The event on Dec. 8 will be held two sites and will include 100 performers.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Music students at the David Adler Music and Arts Center are preparing for their very first Perform-a-thon, a marathon recital that benefits the Adler Center’s Student Scholarship Fund. Featuring two sites, 100 performers, and 10 hours of continuous music, the Adler Center’s Perform-a-thon takes place Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A Perform-a-thon, like a charity walk or run, relies upon students collecting pledges for each minute of performance. Perform-a-thons are becoming a popular way for music schools to engage all of their students in a single community event.
“During the holidays, we encourage our students to give back to the community,” says Program Director, Heather Williamson. “We want them to see that they can use their creative skills and talents to help others gain access to an arts education.”

The first hour of the Perform-a-thon will be hosted by Mariano’s in Vernon Hills; then, at 11 am, the concert moves to the Adler Center, where students and guests will enjoy Hansa Roaster’s coffee and hot chocolate, a bake sale, raffle, makers’ market featuring art by Adler Member Artists (from 1 to 8 p.m.) and a free ornament making workshop (2 to 4 p.m.).
The final hour of the marathon recital features a holiday sing-a-long led by the Adler Center’s voice students.
