Adler Center Launches New Art Exhibition Series

Regional Photographer Alan Teller featured in solo show at Adler Center

This September, the David Adler Music & Arts Center kicks off its Art Exhibition Series with a special solo show titled Beyond Adlai’s Woods, featuring the nationally recognized photographer Alan Teller. As former Executive Director of the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy in Mettawa, Teller became fascinated by the landscape surrounding former Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson’s Mettawa farm – resulting in this evocative collection of unexpectedly abstract photographs. Mr. Teller’s landscape images capture the “beauty in chaos” while offering “a deeper understanding of time and space and our place within it.”

Alan is a second-generation photographer who grew up in Queens, NY and began making pictures as a child. Now settled in Evanston, Alan Teller is essentially a city boy inspired by nature. With a background in anthropology and history, Teller’s photography also reflects his interest in how different cultures may teach us to see. His work has benefited from being awarded a Fulbright grant to work in India; several of those images are displayed in Beyond Adlai’s Woods. Learn more about Mr. Teller’s photography and other ongoing projects by visiting his website: www.AlanTeller.com.

Teller’s captivating photography exhibit is open for viewing at the Adler Center at 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville between August 31-September 26. Open gallery hours are M-F 9:30-6:30 and Sat. 9:30-1:30. Mark your Calendar for two special meet-the-artist events:
