Art of Illinois Opens at Gallery Seven

Local Artist Exhibits

-Lockport Gallery Seven in Lockport opened its exhibit Art of Illinois: A Bicentennial Celebrationto a “bursting at the seams” crowd on Saturday, October 6th. Over 60 artists from around the state are part of this exciting exhibit, which is on both the second and third floors of the Gaylord Building.

Presenting the awards and a certificate of Recognition from the Illinois State Senate was Senator Pat McGuire. Anna Khadine from Libertyville is part of this exhibit with her work Thoughts.

“When I work on an abstract painting I get inspiration from nature or an interest I have at the time and sketch out possibilities. This painting was inspired as I sketched freely letting my thoughts guide my pencil. I then sketched it on canvas and selected colors that seemed to balance as I progressed. When creating an abstract work I tend to use the human figure or faces, abstract them and show movement balanced with color. This is what I feel makes sense of abstract art for me. I prefer working in oils as I am able to leave the painting and view it over the months and change colors or add more movement.”
