Butterfield Road To Close at Metra Track For Railroad Repairs

The closure is expected to run from June 7 to June 10.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL -- Metra will be closing Butterfield Road to through traffic from Illinois Route 137 to Winchester Road starting this week. The closure will begin at 6 a.m. on Friday, June 7, and is scheduled to reopen the afternoon of Monday, June 10.

"The closure is necessary to improve ride quality at the existing railroad crossing. This project will include track repairs and resurfacing," according to a news release from the Lake County Division of Transportation.

Local traffic will be allowed from Illinois Route 137 south to Old Barn Circle and from Winchester Road north to Virginia Avenue/St. William Drive. The railroad crossing will be closed to all traffic. A detour route will run from IL Route 137/Peterson Road to US Route 45 to Winchester Road.
