Construction of Upscale Townhouses at Former Libertyville Park Could Start This Spring

After two years of delays, the sale of Bolander Park in Libertyville to a residential builder has been finalized. Swanson Development LLC of Lake Forest plans to build 56 upscale townhouses on the 5.3-acre property located at 625 Winchester Road and construction could begin as early as this spring, according to the Daily Herald.

The delays came as work to investigate and remediate soil contamination was underway at the former construction site. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency granted its approval last week, allowing for the sale to be finalized, according to the article. Village officials originally accepted a $2.05 million offer from Swanson for the former park November 2013.

The development, which will be named the Parkside of Libertyville, already has 18 potential buyers and townhouses will be priced between $400,000 and $500,000, according to the Daily Herald.
