Destruction to Libertyville Home a 7 on a Scale of 1 to 10

The home on Ridgewood Lane lost two load-bearing walls when an Acura crashed through the house on March 31.

The residents of the home on Ridgewood Lane in Libertyville were not seriously injured when a 2007 Acura crashed into the building on March 31. But now, nearly a week later, the residents tell the Daily Herald what the experience was like.

Total devastation. Our bed was out in the middle of the backyard 40 feet away. It was massively violent, like somebody set off a bomb,” the owner told the Daily Herald.

Two people were injured in the crash: the driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old male driver and the 25-year-old passenger who had to be cut out of the car, the Daily Herald reported.

The couple’s 5-year-old daughter, who was sitting in a booster seat in the rear passenger area of the Acura, was transported to the Lake Forest Hospital for evaluation.
The home was inspected on Wednesday and Bob Miller, a representative of United Services who handles disaster clean up and restoration said the damage was significant.

“On a scale of 1 to 10, this would probably be a seven. Based on speed and impact, this one entered the home and it’s a brick home. It took quite an impact,” Miller told the Daily Herald. “Just by fate, they weren’t in those rooms at the time.”
