Fireworks Complaints In Libertyville Over Fourth Of July
The Libertyville Police Department responded to 11 incidents, confiscating fireworks from three individuals in town, police said.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Every year, thousands of people across the U.S. are injured or killed in fireworks-related incidents. But thankfully, no injuries related to fireworks were reported to the Libertyville Police Department this past Fourth of July, police told Patch Wednesday.
But between July 1 and 8, there were nine noise complaints from fireworks and three incidents where officers made contact with offenders and confiscated the fireworks, officials with the Libertyville Police Department told Patch in an e-mail response.
In 2017, eight people died in the U.S. and 12,000 people were injured badly enough to need medical treatment following fireworks-related incidents, according to an analysis from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. And while the majority of these incidents are due to amateurs trying to use illegal fireworks or explosives, an estimated 1,200 injuries were from less powerful devices like small firecrackers and sparklers.
