Lake Co. Forest Preserve Agrees to One of its Largest Land Buys in 50-Year History

The Lake County Forest Preserve agreed to buy 337 acres of land for $10.5 million.

Lake County Forest Preserve Commmisioners on Tuesday agreed to a huge land buy of 337 acres in Fremont Township, which is also known as the Cuneo property, according to the Daily Herald.

The $10.5 million purchase will provide an addition to Ray Lake Forest Preserve and will allow the forest preserve to “restore the rolling property to a native grassland as may have been seen hundreds of years ago,” according to the article.

The purchase is one of the largest in the 50-year history of the Lake County Forest Preserve.
