Lake Co. Sheriff's Office to Host Latino Citizens Police Academy

The first ever program will kick off in June and will be taught by Spanish-speaking instructors at the sheriff's office.

The first-ever Lake County Sheriff’s Office Latino Citizens Police Academy will begin on June 5, 2019, and run for six weeks. Classes will be held at the Sheriff’s Office Sub-Station in Libertyville.

The Latino Citizens Police Academy is open to all Lake County residents aged 18 or older, of good moral character, and no felony convictions, according to a news release. This course will be instructed by Spanish-speaking members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

It is a free course and applicants will get an in-depth view of all Sheriff’s Office responsibilities, including Corrections, Highway Patrol, Court Security, Criminal Investigations, Crash Investigations, Evidence Processing, and more.

“It is my pleasure to offer, for the very first time, a Citizens Police Academy for Spanish speaking members of our community," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said. "One of my promises to the community was to increase partnerships with all of the people we serve, and I believe this is another step toward connecting with our community. It’s my goal for everyone in Lake County to see the terrific work performed every day by members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.”

Academia Policiaca Para Residentes Latinos del Condado de Lake

El Sheriff John Idleburg se complace en anunciar la primera academia policiaca para residentes Latinos del Condado de Lake. La academia comenzará el 5 de junio de 2019 y durara cinco semanas. Las clases tomaran lugar en el departamento del Sheriff localizado en 1303 N. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville, IL, 60048.

La Academia de Policía de los ciudadanos Latinos está abierta para todos los residentes del Condado de Lake mayores de 18 años, de buen carácter moral, y que no tengan condenas por delitos graves. Este curso será instruido por miembros del Departamento del Sheriff que hablan español. Este curso es gratuito y los aplicantes recibirán una idea de las responsabilidades de lo que hace el Departamento del Sheriff, por ejemplo, la división de correcciones, patrulla de caminos, corte de seguridad, investigaciones criminales, investigaciones de accidentes, pruebas de procesamiento y más.
