Libertyville Businesses Among Recipients Of $46 Million In Grants
The grants, which were handed out in $10,000 or $20,000 increments, were awarded to small businesses hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL – Nine local small businesses were among the more than 2,600 Illinois businesses that were the recipients of $46 million in emergency financial assistance as many small-business owners continue to struggle with hardships associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Wednesday announced the awarding of the grants that were awarded in either $10,000 or $20,000 increments as part of the Business Interruption Grant program. The initiative was introduced to assist small businesses that have been impacted by the economic downturn caused by the pandemic.
Pritzker said in a news conference on Wednesday that 50 percent of the recipients were minority owners of small businesses, many of which have missed out on previous emergency funding. In Libertyville, three of the nine local businesses received the $20,000 grant.
