Libertyville Calls Off Fourth Of July Fireworks Display

The village has decided to cancel this year's fireworks show due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL —The Independence Day Fireworks display for this year has been cancelled because of continued concerns over spreading the new coronavirus, village officials announced Monday. The display had been scheduled for Friday, July 3.

The village's fireworks vendor required a decision by the beginning of June regarding the show, according to information posted on the Libertyville Facebook page.

"Given that the State of Illinois has just entered Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan and it is likely that we will be unable to have large gatherings on Independence Day the Village Board made the decision to cancel the event," according to the Facebook post.
