LIBERTYVILLE, IL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Reason for recognition: Works days, nights and weekends as a nurse at a VA hospital. Taria told Patch Elena has been with her VA hospital for 11 years and worked in the recovery room administering drugs to patients prior to COVID. When COVID hit, she began working specifically with COVID patients between March and July. She returned to her prior duties for a couple months but now is working nights with COVID patients again amid a surge in cases.
One thing to know: She is risking her life to save others' lives!
