Libertyville Looks At Upgrades Along Milwaukee Ave.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The village has hired a consultant to conduct a study on a half-mile stretch of Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville to determine the type of streetscape and other improvements that may benefit the area, according to the Daily Herald. The village approved the not-to-exceed $55,000 contract with SB Freidman Development Advisors as it works to develop a comprehensive plan and has pinpointed the stretch of Milwaukee Avenue between Route 176 and Austin Avenue as potentially needing a makeover.

Village officials have said the area has narrow frontage, not much streetscaping and small parcels. Heather Rowe, the village's economic development coordinator, said the area serves as a "gateway of sorts" to the downtown, according to the Daily Herald.

"It does act as an entry to some of our commercial areas and doesn't present itself the same as some of our other corridors," Rowe said.
