LINCOLN, NEBRASKA — A 20-year-old man who grew up in Libertyville and graduated from Libertyville High School was found dead on Friday at a fraternity house at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, according to media reports. Luke Weiland, 20, was a student at the college and belonged to the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
His fellow fraternity members found him unresponsive in his bedroom after becoming worried when they hadn't heard from him in awhile, according to the Daily Herald. University police Capt. John Backer said he was last seen alive on Thursday night.
An autopsy revealed Weiland choked to death on his vomit but police do not believe alcohol played a role in his death. He was likely unconscious at the time and authorities are looking into whether a medical issue may have contributed to his death, Backer told the Daily Herald.
