Libertyville Police Dept. Announces Passing Of Long-Time Officer
Charles "Chuck" Hershey spent 28 years as an officer with the Libertyville Police Department.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL—A long-time officer with the Libertyville Police Department recently passed away. According to the police department, Charles “Chuck” Hershey died Thursday at the age of 72.
Hershey, a U.S. Army veteran, spent 28 years as an officer with the police department before retiring in 2000, the police department said. During his time with with the Libertyville Police Department, officers say Hershey served as valued mentor to younger officers.
He also served as a longtime board member of the Libertyville Police Pension Board.

"Please keep Chuck’s family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time," the department posted on Facebook.
A private visitation and funeral service will be held Wednesday at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home in Libertyville with interment following with military honors at Ascension Cemetery.
