Man Throws Coffee, Food At McDonald's Employee: Police

The Waukegan man now faces a battery charge following the incident at a McDonald's in Libertyville last month, police said.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A 53-year-old Waukegan man faces a battery charge for throwing coffee and food at a McDonald's employee after he became upset while at the fast food joint on North Milwaukee Avenue last month, police said.

Jose Antonio Santiago, of the 2700 block of Lydia Street, left the McDonald's, located at 1330 N. Milwaukee Avenue, shortly after the incident at about 7 a.m. on March 18, according to a police report from the Libertyville Police Department.

Police said they were able to identify Santiago as the coffee and food thrower, and he later turned himself in at the Libertyville Police Departmnet on March 31. He received a citation and was released after signing a personal recognizance bond.

He is next expected in court on March 12.
