United Way Seeks Donations For School Supply Drive
You can drop off items at a drive-thru event on June 28 or make a donation online.

United Way of Lake County is holding its annual School Supply Drive now through July 15, 2021. Community members are invited to join in by providing local students from low-income families with the supplies they need to start school ready to succeed.
This year, in addition to online donations, the School Supply Drive includes a drive-thru event. The drive-thru will be at The People’s Choice Family Fun Center, 2650 Belvidere Road, Waukegan on June 28 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Donors may purchase new supplies from a wish list, including spiral notebooks, rulers, pink erasers, folders with pockets, boxes of 24 crayons, boxes of 12 colored pencils, boxes of 10 markers, packs of loose-leaf notebook paper, large glue sticks, scissors, pencil pouches/cases, yellow highlighters, packs of 10 pencils, and facial tissues. Donations may be dropped off curbside at People’s Choice. Enter on Belvidere Road and follow the signs to the drop-off location. Donors will be asked to open their trunk and stay in the car while volunteers unload supplies from the vehicle.

At United Way of Lake County, we believe that preparing children to thrive in school is the best way to disrupt the cycle of poverty. That’s why we engage in activities that are ensuring children are ready for their first day of school, building children’s early literacy skills, helping youth overcome barriers to high school graduation and empowering families to develop a strong foundation for their child’s future success. United Way of Lake County recently launched 211, a free, confidential, 24-hour information and referral helpline, connecting individuals and families in Lake County to essential health and human services, to improve and save lives.
Through the support of our partners and supporters, we are transforming communities by delivering programs that are timely, effective and scalable, with results we can measure. For more information, visit www.LIVEUNITEDlakecounty.org.
