Sex Offender With Disabled Car Nabbed For Failure To Register
A Libertyville Police Department officer assisted a man with a disabled vehicle, learned he was a sex offender who'd failed to register.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — A sex offender was arrested on a warrant for failing to properly register.
A Libertyville Police Department officer first spoke with the 52-year-old Zion man, who they identified as Eddie Gibson, at about 6 a.m. on March 24 after going to help him with his vehicle, which had broken down in the area of Peterson and Butterfield roads, according to a Libertyville Police Department report.
While checking Gibson's record, the officer learned there was an active warrant out of McHenry County for his arrest. Gibson, registered sex offender, was also not complying with registration requirements, according to police.

Gibson was arrested and taken to the Libertyville Police Department. He was later released from custody on an $8,000 personal recognizance bond and is next expected in court on April 26 in McHenry County.
He was also charged in Lake County for failure to report a change in employment. His bail has been set at $30,000 and Gibson remained in custody as of Tuesday, according to online jail records.

He must post 10 percent, or $3,000, to be released from custody.
