Siebkens Resort Perseveres Triumphantly During 2020 Challenges

Timeless Resort Underscores Elkhart Lake's "Resort Strong" Motto during challenging times...

During arguably the most challenging year in 100 years, finding comfort in an uncertain world can be precarious at best. But like an old familiar friend, some small towns like Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin offer a timeless glimpse into days of yore, when things were simpler...for everyone.

When you drive into Elkhart Lake, there's a warm feeling, like you've just stepped into a black and white photograph during the mid-1920's. Of course, while our planet continues to spin on its axis and the decades roll by, memories of Mrs. Gessert behind the counter concocting a chocolate phosphate cultivate classic memories dating back to the 1940's. A living legend, Mrs. Gessert still graces the enchanted town that is Elkhart Lake-to this day.

At the end of the street stands another living legend, in the form of a Landmark, nestled near the water since the turn of the century. Siebkens Resort remains a testament to guests seeking respite, even during these unprecedented times. 4 generations, beginning with Laura and Herman Siebkens, gave way to their lovely daughters who took their family business and made it their "Labor of Love" until recent times, when they passed their lovely baton to Wendy and her husband, who continue to lovingly keep Siebken's traditions alive, while innovatively continuing to keep the property evolving during modern times.

In fact, the Wisconsin Historical Society has officially placed Siebkens Resort on the State Register of Historic Places as of August 15, 2020. The state register is Wisconsins official list of state properties determined to be significant to Wisconsins heritage, underscoring Siebkens important role over the many years of its existence and a testament to its long-standing history of outstanding stewardship. The resort is considered to be a rare survivor in the face of many epic challenges over the past century.

Wendy and her team at Siebkens pour their hearts into maintaining the property's impeccable reputation by creating nice touches that add value to both the property and their guests. For guests who prefer a traditional stay, Siebkens Resort still retains the classic charm its famous for, replete with cozy, comfortable rooms that blend contemporary comfort with timeless fit and finish.

For the discerning guest who demands a change of pace, Wendy and Co. provide the ultimate turn-key experience: Namely their gorgeous, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom condos that include all the modern conveniences an individual, couple or family would come to expect, except...these condos are so wonderfully equipped that they exceed expectations!

The condo side of Siebkens Resort includes: open floor plans, fully equipped kitchen, including silverware, dishes, glasses, a dishwasher and a full-size refrigerator. The living rooms are cornered with remote fireplaces (a very nice, romantic touch) and an oversized terrace balcony. the bathrooms are ultra-modern with every amenity, including luxurious showers and useful nooks and crannies for storage and so much more.

The bedrooms are super-comfy and these condos even include washer's and dryer's. Turn-key indeed!

It's no coincidence that Siebkens has survived every war, every downturn and it will survive the current global pandemic as well. Guests appreciate their thoughtful approach to safety, including but not limited to hand sanitizer near the entrance (to the condos for example) and their "Green Stay" that encompasses a zero entry, no touch approach for the entire stay. Translation: Guests can enjoy their condo space touch free by simply living in the space with no entry from maid service for the duration of their stay while Covid-19 is still prevalent.

During my significant other's and my stay, that's what we chose to do. Our stay was streamlined, easy and it we maintained the unit as if it was our own-an easy transition from home to the Siebkens condo. Unobtrusive, clean and the perfect reset from so much of the stress of the everyday. We chose to remain mindful of ourselves and others. We wore our masks in public, maintained our social distance while being friendly and respectful of others. We made it a point to show consideration to our fellow visitors while fully enjoying our getaway.

The best kept secret turned out to be Siebkens private beach-and not just because of their intimate beach gazing out at the wondrous landscape of one of the cleanest, most pristine lakes anywhere in the US. Wendy and her husband do a beautiful job maintaining their private storybook pier...if it's romance you seek, look no further. You've arrived: Siebkens beach pier will land you straight into a Nicolas Sparks novel. You can sit on a lawn chair on the pier or...you can dangle your feet freely into the lakes clear water. Now for the best part: They have a boathouse containing all the toys! Non motorized water sports is what guests to Elkhart Lake thrive on and Wendy and her team ensure that guests can enjoy FREE water toys and beautiful, like new lounge chairs that make the proverbial "Day At The Beach" a, well, Day at the beach!

When it comes to service, of the 3 major resorts in Elkhart Lake, Siebkens redefines the worry-free stay. Their enthusiastic staff are kind, energetic and genuinely enjoy carrying on the traditions of the resort. Wendy and her team always go the extra mile to ensure that their customer's leave with a smile and a reluctance to return home after a relaxing experience at Siebkens.

Hungry? Siebkens Stop-Inn Tavern restaurant has got you covered. Long known for their delicious, generous sandwiches, featuring all the trimmings like their world-famous potato salads, homemade chips (A must have!) and creative drinks, there's something for every pallet. We highly recommend either the corned beef or roast beef on the "Famous Siebkens Rye." A must have, always!

Weather permitting, in lieu of Covid, we recommend dining outdoors right outside the restaurant, as they have nice tables set up.

The main dining room is classically beautiful and romantic with nice white table cloths and a vibe that takes one back to 1916, where one could imagine opening night, top hats and horse and buggy clopping down the cobblestone and dropping a dapper couple off at Siebkens for fine dining.

We recommend the Prime Rib of Angus Beef (of course). For starters, you simply cannot go wrong with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail (Hello! You're in Elkhart Lake, near water, get the shrimp! For music fans of the Beatles, of course we're going to recommend the "Strawberry Fields Forever" salad since berries are officially "in season."

Since we're the kind of people that like to think outside the lines, after a satisfying dining experience, we gather up our "Dessert Stomachs" and walk off our wonderful meal by celebrating our stay with gelato at Sissy's next door, yet another must have.

While we savored Siebkens luxurious beach, the pool was another favorite R & R experience, especially off peak when in a rare instance we had it all to ourselves. Talk about a perfect stay!

For those of you who'd prefer not to fly as we all await a Vaccine, Siebkens Resort can be your perfect "Home Away From Home."
