GURNEE, IL — The world's largest water coaster is opening this weekend at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

Tsunami Surge is set to make its big debut this Saturday when Hurricane Harbor opens for the season. The water park had planned to open the water coaster in 2020 but those plans got pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the park's shutdown.

Tsunami Surge will stand at a record-breaking 86 feet tall, or as high as an eight-story building, and riders could reach speeds of 28 mph while careening down the slide.
