Veteran Goes Missing on Way to New Job at Illinois Naval Base
Philip Quick, 54, was excited to start his new job at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

Police are asking for the public's help in the search for a veteran who never showed up to his first day at a new job in North Chicago.
Philip Quick, 54, was on his way from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago earlier this week. He was last heard from at 6:03 p.m. Saturday, when he let his family know that he was eating at a McDonald's on Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville.
He was scheduled to start in his new position on Monday, Jan. 23, according to the AWARE Foundation, a missing persons advocacy group.

Quick was traveling from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He may have checked out of a Red Carpet Inn on Saturday or Sunday, the foundation said.
He is described as 6-foot-2 and 270 pounds with blue eyes and dirty blond hair, according to police. He was driving a 2006 tan Ford F150 crew cab pickup with Kentucky farm license plate 761-0ET.

His family said it is "out of character for Philip and he was very excited to start his new job."
