Woman Dragged 'For Several Feet' While Holding Onto Car: Police
A Libertyville woman is accused of pushing on the accelerator while the woman tried to escape the car.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Libertyville woman with past domestic battery convictions pushed down on the accelerator when a woman attempted to escape her vehicle last month. The woman was dragged along "for several feet" by the car as she tried to get back into the vehicle, according to court documents.
Katrice Brown, 35, who now faces felony charges in connection with the incident, is accused of then hitting the woman with the vehicle. Brown is currently being held at the Lake County Jail on a $250,000 bail.

She is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and DUI - alcohol charges and two counts of aggravated domestic battery in connection with the May 27 incident in Gages Lake.
Authorities say Brown and the other woman got into an argument at a restaurant and bar in the area of Route 45 and Gages Lake Road before leaving the establishment, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. They were both in Brown's car when the woman tried to get out but Brown then stepped on the accelerator, police said.

The woman was dragged along. After she was hit by the vehicle, Brown then fled the scene. She returned a short time later and threatened to shoot the woman. The woman crawled back into the car and Brown fled again, police said.
A short time later, a Grayslake Police Department officer spotted the car in the area of Route 45 and Brae Loch Road in Grayslake. Brown got out of her car and started yelling "shoot me" and "kill me," police said. Authorities were able to calm her and take her into custody.
The Libertyville woman injured in the incident was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with significant injuries from being struck and dragged by the car. She was released from the hospital the next day, Lt. Christpoher Covelli, a public information officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, told Patch in an email response.
"This was an incident that could have ended much differently if it were not for our trained, dedicated, and professional staff who worked together to resolve this incident safely for everyone involved," said Sheriff John Idleburg in a statement.
A bond review hearing for Brown is set for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Lake County Circuit Court.
