Work On Route 176 To Affect Traffic On Des Plaines River Bridge

The project is expected to be complete in July.

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — An upcoming roadwork project in Libertyville could cause traffic throughout the springtime and into early summer on the Route 176 bridge across the Des Plaines River bridge.

In a news alert, the Village of Libertyville announced the Illinois Department of Transportation will begin work on the project on April 19.

During the first phase of the project, a temporary traffic signal will be installed, and Route 176 will be limited to one lane. The bike lane across the bridge will also be closed.

The first phase is intended to rehabilitate the bridge deck and repair concrete and will last through approximately May 29.

During the second phase of the project, the single open lane will change sides, and the other half will be rehabilitated. The bike line will be open during phase two.

Weather permitting, the project has an estimated completion of July 15.
