Arrowhead Ales Sued By Customer Kristi Reynolds

Reynolds hired the Kordik Law Firm to file her civil lawsuit at the Will County Courthouse.

NEW LENOX, IL - Almost two years ago, on July 11, 2016, Kristi Reynolds patronized the Arrowhead Ales Brewing Company near Laraway Road. As a result of that experience, Reynolds hired attorney Daniel J. Kordik of the Kordik Law Firm in Elmhurst to bring a personal injury lawsuit against the New Lenox establishment. The lawsuit claims Reynolds suffered permanent injury after slipping and falling on a wet floor caused by a dripping air conditioner.

"Kristi Reynolds prays that this court enter a judgment in her favor and against the defendant, Arrowhead Ales Brewing Company for an amount in excess of $50,000 plus costs," her lawsuit states.

The lawsuit states that Arrowhead failed to maintain its air conditioning system and ducts "in good operating condition so that it would not drip water on the floor."

Arrowhead "allowed an accumulation of water to exist on the floor without placing a bucket, tripod or other warning to warn patrons of the existence of water on the floor," the suit argues.

Arrowhead is also accused of having "failed to mop up water on the floor" and having "allowed the floor to be in unreasonably slippery condition."

Patch called Arrowhead for comment about the lawsuit, which was filed last week at the Will County Courthouse, but no one from Arrowhead called back with any comments.

On Friday afternoon, Patch also reached out to Reynolds' lawyer, Kordik. He said that his client went to Arrowhead Ale with her relatives after spending the day shopping. "She did wind up having a surgery several months later and it was a significant surgery," Kordik told Patch.

On July 11, 2016, Kristi Reynolds slipped and fell "sustaining damages and injuries of a personal, permanent and pecuniary nature" including medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of a normal life, disability, surgical scaring and disfigurement, her lawsuit outlines.

According to their lawsuit, one of the employees at Arrowhead also provided Reynolds with information about the problems the air conditioning unit was experiencing inside Arrowhead's restaurant.

The lawsuit states that "a waiter admitted to the plaintiff that defendant had been having issues with the leaking air conditioning duct that was leaving water on the floor where plaintiff fell for some time … Defendant … had actual notice of the aforementioned condition of the air conditioning duct dripping water on to the floor."

Kordik said he has been in regular contact with Arrowhead's insurance representatives, but the case had not been resolved and the time to file a lawsuit was about to expire. "It's still possible that the case could be resolved," Kordik explained.
