NEW LENOX, IL. — When it comes to photogenic aquatic wildlife, crayfish might not immediately come to mind. But for New Lenox resident Megan Crandall, a photo of a triumphant looking crayfish certainly captured peoples attention.

Crandall's photo won the top spot in Forest Preserve of Will County's June photo contest. The photo was taken at Hickory Creek Barrens Nature Preserve in New Lenox, according to a press release from the Forest Preserve.

“I started during the pandemic as it was a great way to get out," Crandall was quoted in the press release. "I also got a new camera from my mom for Christmas and a tripod from my husband; so I’m able to take even better photos this year. I go out at least every other day, sometimes with my brother who taught me some great techniques on capturing photos of birds.”
