'Board and Brush' Set for April 22 Grand Opening

The New Lenox Chamber of Commerce excited to help kick-off the grand opening celebration of Board & Brush New Lenox with a ribbon cutting on Friday, April 22, 2016. The ribbon cutting will take place at 6 p.m. and the open house will go from 6 to 10 p.m. in the New Lenox studio located at 2401 Joliet Highway.

Board & Brush is a creative studio that will be offering workshops for you to make your very own customized signs and wooden projects. The grand opening and open house will be the community’s first look inside the studio and the projects that will be offered. They will also be taking reservations for upcoming classes, giveaways, and gift bags for the first 50 people.

Massiel Ullsmith is excited to open Board & Brush in New Lenox. Massiel lives on the border of New Lenox and Joliet with her husband and their three little girls.

“I started a small design business, That Girl Design almost 2.5 years ago as a creative outlet," Ullsmith told the Chamber. "I was looking to expand into holding workshops when I came across Board & Brush on Facebook and immediately fell in love with their look and their concept. I emailed the owner, Julie Selby, introduced her to my Facebook page, and we realized we were a perfect match! They were in the very early stages of planning their first studio for Illinois so our paths crossed at a perfect time for us both. We spoke on the phone, met, and four months later here we are.

"I'm so excited to be able to share my talents with people through a company like Board & Brush! Not only are they an incredible company to work with but the idea that a ‘Girls’ Night In’ turned into a business idea and now a company with 11 studios in just the last year (and five more in the works) makes me incredibly proud to be a part of it. We're over the moon to be bringing the very first studio in Illinois to New Lenox!”
